Fran McCaffery's tenure at Iowa has ended after 15 seasons, per multiple reports.
McCaffery was ejected from his final game at the helm of the Hawkeyes program in Thursday's Big Ten Tournament loss to Illinois in Indianapolis. Iowa finished this season 17-16 and 7-13 in the Big Ten.
Over 15 years, he made seven NCAA Tournaments, but never made it past the second round. He recruited, developed, and coached national player of the year Luka Garza, and then developed the Murray twins into All-Americans after Garza left.
He won 20 games eight times, and won the Big Ten Tournament in 2022. However, after two straight seasons missing the NCAA Tournament, and four years without an NCAA Tournament win, Iowa has decided to pull the plug.
Before McCaffery got to Iowa, he made three consecutive NCAA Tournaments at Siena, and also led UNC Greensboro and Lehigh to the NCAA Tournament.
