Miami officially announced the hiring of Duke associate head coach Jai Lucas as the next head coach of the Hurricanes' basketball program on Thursday.'
Lucas, 36, is set to become the youngest head coach in the ACC, and one of the youngest in all of college basketball.
When Jon Scheyer plucked Lucas from the Kentucky sidelines, it was a big deal, as it marked an outside the family hire for a program that has been synonymous with one coach and one family for over forty years.
Lucas has gone on to be the lead recruiter for many of Duke's five-star recruits, most notably, '25 Shelton Henderson, whom he reportedly has an excellent relationship with.
The Blue Devils will be down an assistant for the ACC Tournament run and NCAA Tournament run, as the Canes need Lucas to start right after the weekend with their season ending after Saturday.
